James Bland Productions cultivates authentic, art-driven content across film, television, and digital platforms. Past clients include HBO, Paramount, Peacock, TV Land, BET+, TikTok, Atlantic Records, Bevel, and Bombay Sapphire.

Our company's founder, James Bland, is an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer best known for creating and starring in the critically acclaimed drama series Giants. Produced independently without the backing of a major network or studio, Giants earned two Emmy Awards and widespread recognition for its authentic portrayal of the Black millennial experience. Through compelling characters and thought-provoking narratives, the series cemented Bland's reputation as a visionary storyteller unafraid to tackle complex and relatable issues.

As a storyteller and multi-hyphenate creative, Bland's work has left a lasting impact on cultural touchstones cherished by millions. He directed and produced the HBO documentary special Insecure: The End. He co-wrote the pivotal final episode of Peacock’s The Best Man: The Final Chapters alongside creator, writer, and director Malcolm D. Lee. Both projects earned a NAACP Image Award nomination.

On screen, Bland delivered memorable performances in projects such as Insecure (HBO) and Always a Bridesmaid (Netflix). In 2024, he starred in the critically acclaimed romance drama High Tide, which premiered at SXSW and was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Feature Film. Recent work includes Unconventional (Revry), a dark LGBTQ comedy series in which Bland co-stars, writes, directs, and produces.

Beyond his creative projects, Bland is passionate about empowering the next generation of storytellers. Through his work with the HBCU in LA program, he mentors students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, leading them through the production of a short film from script to screen. He's committed to increasing diversity in Hollywood and ensuring a more inclusive future for storytelling.
